Membership of the British Aikido Association (BAA) is also required, which can be arranged through the club for insurance perposes.

The first four lessons are free, after that if you decide you like it lessons cost £5 per week, or £30 per month.

Private tuition is also available, at a cost of £15 per hour, by appointment with Scott.

Any loose, comfortable clothing, such as tracksuit bottoms and t-shirt is fine to start with, but eventually you must get hold of a gi. These cost about £15 and can be bought through the club. A judo style gi is a bit better suited to aikido than a karate or other style gi. It is usually not a very good idea to wear ear-rings, nose rings, nipple rings and the like- it could get messy when they get ripped out.

Any other equipment, i.e. bokken, jo and tanto, is provided in the dojo
